Consolidate two 3725s to one 3745

Here are our experiences converting from two 3725s to one 3745. Please remember that problems I report here could most likely be from mistakes I made and not from product flaws.

Environment

IBM 9672-R46
OS/390 R6
From:
- Two 3725s
- Channel Adapter connection to LPAR1, LPAR2, LPAR5
To:
- One 3745 (only two channel adapters)
- Channel Adapter connection to LPAR1 (Byte - EP)
- Channel Adapter connection to LPAR2 (Block)
- CTC connections from LPAR1 and LPAR2 to LPAR5

We could completely get off FEP (Front End Processors) if we didn't have the legacy EP lines!

Status

2000-03-??	3745 arrives
2000-04-15	Hired contractor to assist VTAM sysprog with conversion
2000-05-07	Added Byte channel to LPAR1
2000-06-??	Production on the '45.
