1999-09-09	Added an ISPF application called WHATDATE that does date conversions between Gregorian and Julian (IBM mainframe) formats. The Mailing list and Newsgroup page was updated for the new home of the MVS-OE mailing list archive and subscription page: http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?mvs-oe Link added on Mainframe Freeware links page for Mike Post's OS/390 programs includes Netprint, CvtPost, UD SMTP, Whohas Space, and more.

15 August 1999	If you're here, you probably found my new site at http://users.ticnet.com/davea/mvs it used to be http://www.ticnet.com/davea/mvs. When my Internet Service Provider rebuilt their server after a hard disk crash, the URL changed... The only new thing is a new page called Dave's Program Product Pet Peeves Page. A rude guide for our vendors.

5 August 1999	Added bit.listserv.tsorexx newsgroup archive page to the Mainframe mailing list and newsgroups links page. As gleaned (is that a word?) from http://www.software.ibm.com/network/commserver/support, these newsgroups: CS/390 (TCP/IP) - ibm.software.commserver.os390.ip CS/390 (VTAM) - ibm.software.commserver.os390.sna were added to the Mailing list and newsgroup links page and the OS/390 R6 upgrade experiences page

1 August 1999	Made a few changes to the HLASM pages: The main page has a link to the 370 Assembler category at Netscape's Open Directory. Added entry to the S/390 FAQ: What colleges teach Mainframe assembler? Updated the S/390 Assembler Faq entry What are some good MVS assembler books? with information about the Advanced Assembler Language and MVS Interfaces book is soon to be back in print. Updated the S/390 Assembler tips entry Subscribe to the IBM mainframe Assembler newsgroup and mailing list with better listserve information.

16 June 1999	Updated the S/390 Assembler FAQ: PC-based Assembler products was changed into a table. Added Greg Dyck's post to IBM-Main mailing list/newsgroup about Architectural Level Set Link to SAS/C vendor article Real World Spotlight: Assembler Not Always Best Choice for VM Systems Programming. Updated the UnXMIT to add info about an UnXMIT port in progress: Tachyon Un-Xmit program (TUX), which is not yet added on their site.

14 June 1999	Updated the S/390 Assembler FAQ: PC-based Assembler products had updates to Falcon2000 and Tachyon 390 Cross Assembler entries. Information was added about the Systems/C product. Added a reference to Tachyon's instruction set tables. 9 June 1999	Updated the TCP/IP on IBM Mainframe page with a buttload (TEXAS term! boatload for you Yankees) of new links. The page was slightly restructured. Updated the MVS Mail page to link to the most recent copy of Lionel Dyck's XMITIP.

2 June 1999	Renamed "TCP/IP on MVS" page to TCP/IP on IBM mainframes so I could include some information on VM and VSE. Most of the content will be on MVS, the only mainframe O/S I have access to. Well we still have VM and TCP/IP there but they are ancient and will be removed before the Year 2000.

30 May 1999 through 1 June 1999	Started a new TCP/IP for MVS page. It's rather sparse now but it should grow. Added a Achtung (Internet variation) to the Mainframe Slang page. Added link to X3270 and Linux to my TN3270 page.
27 May 1999	Moved the EBCDIC links from the Terms page to the Misc links page and added some new entries. Added a link to the Punched Cards history page created by Douglas W. Jones of the University of Iowa Department of Computer Science to my Green Card Collection page. This punch card page reminds me of something from the New Hacker's Dictionary from something called "The Last Bug": He died at the console Of hunger and thirst. Next day he was buried, Face down, 9-edge first. I created a quick and dirty ISPF application that plays the 1st Star Wars movie "ASCII-MATION" text file created by Simon Jansen (who obviously has too much time on his hands). His movie is up to the part "these aren't the droids you're looking for". See it as a Java Applet at: http://www.fortunecity.com/tatooine/lucas/339/page1.html. To Install: Unzip swplaym.zip to get swplay.xmi Upload swplay.xmi in binary to MVS as LRECL=80 FIXED Use TSO command RECEIVE INDATASET(swplay.xmi) Follow the instructions in the $DOC member. If you aren't familiar with TSO XMIT files, see my XMIT download page No Virgina, there is no Star Wars on TSO page on my site. There is only this reference. Don't give into anger. That leads to suffering and the dark side.

10 April 1999	Added results for REXX/imc to the Rexx Anywhere! page. The UnXmit page has some minor updates and a PDS3380.XMI file. I'm asking for contributions of XMIT files from different device types for PDS files.

13 March 1999	The Mainframe Slang page has a couple of new scanned images: Extinct and loving it and IGDZILLA (from the newsletter) A few changes were made to the TN3270 page including: [ Added a pointer to: Pointer Enabled Tools for VM/CMS. \| IBMTCP-L mailing list tip \| IBM TN3270 links \| MVS Console access via TN3270: DI3270 Comm Server Win-Direct Console Consolidation or X-Direct Console Consolidation \| Started two sections: TN3270 Servers and Connections ] Updated the HLASM tips page to add a couple of new VM links and information on the Programming Understanding Tool support for Windows

New pronouncation: WLM as Pronounced "William" - lots better than saying Work Load Manager over and over. New term: BERT Technology Added tip about Rescue system to my Dave's MVS tips page. Also shown is my volume layout for OS/390 installs. A guy emailed me that the DASRC.ZIP file was bad. I uploaded a new one. If this failed for you, go to the DASRC page now and try again. Here is my best of from Share: Best button: I HAVE NOT HAD PLEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT LPAR. Best non-JES2 tshirt: A sysprog was wearing a Jesse Ventura tshirt that read "My Governor can beat up your Governor".

17 February 1999	Lionel Dyck's XMITIP (Zip file) updated to v1.80 on Dave's MVS Mail page. 8 February 1999	Created Dave's TN3270 page Corrected the CBT tape URL on the S/390 assembler tips page and added an assembler tips contribution.

4 February 1999	Added Lionel Dyck's updated XMITIP.ZIP to Dave's MVS Mail page Added my COPYANSI Rexx exec. This page also has my HLASM SYSPRINT listing trimmer. Added a FAQ entry How do I suppress the IEBCOPY messages when I'm using the XMIT command? to the UnXMIT information page. Based on a post by Gilbert Saint-flour on the IBM-MAIN newsgroup. Enhancements to my vanity page (only read this if you are really bored).

28-30 January 1999	Added a Q&A about how to pronounce my last name to the Dave FAQ. If you ever meet me, you can say my name right. Added my ISPF v4 migration execs

From Japan: Tetsuya Kimura's MVS Tips and Tools (Very slow!) Direct link to the Source code Mainframe Slang page - added a Worst of section and a link to Acronyms and Abbreviations Search Engine (Courtsey of David McRitchie)

11 January 1999	Added link to Rexx Language Association on the Rexx Links and Rexx Anywhere! pages. After the second email request for a JES2 to JES3 command table, I finally located one from my last job. It is horribly out of date so I call it my 1980's JES2 to JES3 command list Make my Cascading Style Sheet dave1.css compatible with Netscape by using a font-size on the H1-H6 definitions. If you are using a browser that can't download .css files, download a copy called dave1.css.txt to see what I'm up when I'm stylin'!

2 January 1999	Updated Dave's MVS mail page for a few misc cosmetic changes and to add the MVS HTML email section. Dave's MVS freeware was restructured into seperate pages by category. The contents of DASRC (DA.SOURCE) were split to different pages. Link to Doug Nadel's OS/390 Freeware was added to Freeware Links

1 January 1999	Web pages that are in the /MVS directory were changed to use a few concepts recommended by Jacob Nielsen on his useit.com site: A navigation bar was added at the top of the pages to show the reader of the page where he is in the web site. Changes from the USEIT.COM n-bar. I used a different shade of yellow for my n-bar. I also created my own (arrow). Changed copyright dates to 1999. Many of my web pages were changed to use Cascading Style Sheets. My web pages are NOW best viewed with a web browser that conforms to HTML 4. If you are interested in CSS, download my dave1.css file and view the source of this web page. We be stylin'!!
